We’re Engaged!

January 25, 2011

Robert proposed on Saturday night (January 22nd) in Savannah, Georgia. I didn’t say “yes” right away. I said “Of course!!!” soon followed by a “Yes!”

We’ve been together just short of 5 1/2 years and we couldn’t be happier.

January 20, 2011

So Robert turned 21! I was so sad I missed it :( He may still be 21 now, but I wish I could have been there. With all the storms and everything going on during my extended vacation in Massachusetts with family…we couldn’t get back in time.

I will do my best to try and make it up to him.

Really delayed

January 11, 2011

Well, I never really came back to update this blog after the trip to England. I’ll sum it up as a really awesome experience. I really enjoyed my time there. I did take a few hundred photos but those are hosted elsewhere.

One of my favorites is:

From now on I will likely update this blog with the typical adventure Robert and I go through. Boring, I know!

Well I kept her busy for the rest of the time, so it appears the week was successful. I am sure she will update this once she gets back to Atlanta.

England Day 1 – The flight

March 5, 2010

So… I did okay on the flight which is better than we expected haha. Didn’t sleep though.
They played 3 movies (Mr. Fox, something about the invention of lying, and Star Trek) Pretty funny though, the only time we had a little turbulence was during part of a battle scene in Star Trek LOL The ships were getting shot at in the movie…and our plane was shaking! LOL I actually found this to be thoroughly amusing.

I ate plenty on the plane. All of my chicken, rice, carrots and roll + Robert’s carrots. Both of our salads. A few apple juices, peanuts, and for breakfast I ate mine and Robert’s omelet biscuit thing.

After we watched the sunrise. We flew over Ireland which was awesome. I loved seeing the wind farms below us…and looking at the water. Everything below us was so fascinating.

Our plane was taxied into a parking lot area where they sent up big staircase like thing to come get us out of the plane where we had to stand on a bus which took us to the terminal. My first experience on the WRONG side of the road was standing on a bus with a bunch of other people flying past other buses that were mere inches from our bus. HA!

I had to go through the immigration thing. Answer some questions and then as I left some lady started asking me a few questions for a survey. Our luggage arrived very quickly after and I made myself look a bit more presentable before we met up with Robert’s dad. Along the way a drug sniffing dog freaked out about 15ft in front of me. So the police lady turned around and had the dog sniff our bags but the dog was uninterested. Duh, what dog wants a banana?

We made it out to his Dad. Got everything into the car and wham into my first round-a-bout (rotary) going the “wrong way”. The cars are pretty cool! Saw my first Civic Type R …omg and 10 minutes later a white audi R8.

We got to Robert’s house and unloaded our luggage and looked around for a while. Got freshened up. Had a few sips of filtered water. Big mistake! I was sick all afternoon. Went out to see the houses in the lane and some big bull mastiff out of the fence and came over to greet me leaving a huge line of snot/drool across my pants. Had to go change before we went out to Tescos.

Tescos was really cool. So many neat things to see…but I swear their carts are so dangerous. They slide every direction!! I guess all four wheels work well. It reminds me of the crazy drivers in rush hour traffic in Atlanta. All the foods look wonderful. Everything was so fresh. I also loved the fact that every egg in the carton is stamped with an expiration date.

We went back to the house and unloaded the food. Then Robert drove me around to show me some of the houses he used to live in. His old school and the top of a huge hill where I could see all the way to Blackpool.

Even though we were both exhausted we did get to see a lot of things today. I’m looking forward to tomorrow :)

4 hours

March 4, 2010

4 hours until we take off! Robert and I are heading to the airport very shortly. I’m trying to stay awake, so exhausted. I’ve only had toast, grapes, and water. Don’t want to make my stomach sick before the flight!

15 hours

March 4, 2010

So…we’re leaving in just over 15 hours. I have just about everything packed now. Pretty nervous about the flight, but I’m sure everything will be fine. Thinking about it isn’t making it easy to fall asleep though. I hope they have the TVs on the plane like Robert said they used to. That would keep me busy! I’m bringing my gameboy, iTouch, Robert’s laptop, 3 books, a magazine, and uno cards so I should have plenty.

I’ll get to meet and see a lot of people in England. I’m really looking forward to that. It’ll be a wonderful experience for me. Oh, and I really must find a good Fish and Chips place that wraps the fish in English Newspaper and is served with malt vinegar haha

I hope to see and possibly go up in the London Eye. That would be AWESOME! I’m terrified of heights but it seems like something you should try. I may say otherwise when I’m standing below it in a few days HAHA

1 week and 23 hours

February 24, 2010

I’m starting to get nervous now. This is definitely a big thing. I’ve never traveled to another country before. Much less left the east coast of the USA. Everything will be fine though, I’m sure. It’ll be a great experience. :) I look forward to it!
